Key Responsibilities: 

Carrier Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with LTL and truckload carriers.
  • Evaluate carrier performance and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
  • Identify and onboard new carriers to support business needs.

Contract Negotiation:

  • Lead negotiations for transportation contracts, ensuring competitive rates and favorable terms.
  • Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to finalize agreements.

Freight Operations:

  • Oversee daily booking and dispatching of LTL and truckload shipments.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely communication with carriers and internal teams.
  • Resolve freight-related issues and exceptions proactively.
  • Manage MSC's inbound freight programs and triangle trucking operations.
  • Determine most efficient and economical routing and modes of transportation for all MSC shipments.
  • Oversee and manage the internal movement of product between MSC locations.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

Freight Claims Management:

  • Investigate and process freight claims in a timely manner.
  • Work with carriers and internal stakeholders to recover losses and prevent future claims.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Track and report on transportation KPIs including on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and carrier reliability.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize transportation efficiency.

Customer Service

  • Resolve Delivery issues and delays
  • Communicate with internal departments and external clients
  • Ensure service level commitments are met.
  • Manage and develop the transportation team handling the daily domestic operations.

Technology and Systems

  • Implement and utilize transportation management System (TMS)
  • Drive the utilization of data analysis tools and measurements for process and performance improvement.

 

Qualifications

 

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field or the equivalent experience required..
  • Minimum of five years of experience in transportation or logistics management.
  • Five years of management experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of LTL, truckload and parcel shipment modes
  • Proven experience in carrier negotiations and contract management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with transportation KPIs and performance dashboards.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

 

Other Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license may be required.
  • Position requires up to 10% of travel
  • This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”)

Compensation starting at $72100 - $113300 depending on experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidates relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
