BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Transportation Management & Logistics Systems is accountable for owning the transportation management strategy and the daily execution that supports it. This role ensures that transportation systems, processes, and controls operate reliably, compliantly, and cost-effectively while enabling business growth.

This position serves as the primary owner of Transportation Management (TM) systems and logistics support operations, partnering closely with Supply Chain Operations, IT, Sales (including National Accounts and Government), and external logistics providers and IT partners. Success in this role requires balancing strategic systems leadership with hands-on operational management, ensuring transportation capabilities deliver measurable service, compliance, and financial outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation Management Strategy & Systems

· Own the Transportation Management (TM) strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with supply chain and business objectives.

· Lead the implementation, standardization, and ongoing optimization of the TM platform, including integration with ERP and related systems.

· Define and maintain standard transportation processes and data models to support scalability, visibility, shipment control, and performance management.

· Lead change management activities as transportation processes and systems evolve from legacy solutions to standardized platforms.

· Monitor transportation technology and market trends to inform system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Day-to-Day Transportation & Logistics Operations

· Own the daily operational performance of transportation systems and processes, ensuring accuracy, stability, and responsiveness.

· Manage parcel, LTL, TL and import transportation activities, including manifest operations and dimensional data capture.

· Maintain transportation control data (e.g., order cut-off times, transit times, routing logic) that drives customer commitments and service accuracy.

· Identify operational risks, gaps, and inefficiencies; lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Cross-Functional Partnership & Customer Enablement

· Serve as the primary Supply Chain liaison to IT for transportation systems design, enhancements, and ongoing support.

· Partner with Sales and National Accounts to design scalable and compliant transportation solutions for complex customer requirements.

· Act as the Supply Chain's primary transportation contact for Government business, ensuring contractual compliance, audit readiness, and profitable execution.

· Build strong working relationships across Supply Chain, IT, Finance, and Sales and outside partners to align transportation capabilities with business needs.

· Partner with 3rd party analytics and IT Partners to develop and improve process efficiencies and reporting (e.g. - ShipExec, Intelligent Logistics, etc.) Financial & Performance Management

· Own the transportation support operating budget and ensure fiscal discipline.

· Identify and execute cost savings initiatives that improve transportation performance and financial results, while balancing customer service requirements. · Develop and maintain KPIs, scorecards, and reporting to measure service, cost, compliance, and system effectiveness. People Leadership & Culture

· Lead and develop a team responsible for transportation systems support and logistics operations.

· Set clear expectations, coach performance, and support associate development.

· Model and reinforce company values, accountability, and continuous improvement.

· Drives & fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.

· Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS What You Need:

· Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, Technology, or equivalent experience. · Minimum of eight years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations with systems and process ownership. · Minimum of five years of people management experience. · Strong knowledge of parcel and truckload/LTL transportation networks. · Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complex initiatives simultaneously. · Strong analytical, financial, and communication skills. Bonus Points If You Have: · Experience with Transportation Management Systems · Proven success leading system implementations or major process improvements. · Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement certification. · Experience supporting Government or highly regulated customer fulfillment. Other Requirements: · A valid driver's license may be required. · Position requires up to 10% travel · This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”)

Compensation starting at $82,400 - $129,470 depending on candidate location and experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
