BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director, Business Process Excellence provides hands-on support to business functions by facilitating the design, documentation, standardization, and improvement of core processes. This role ensures processes are scalable, efficient, and aligned to priorities, enabling consistent execution across a complex, matrixed organization. Focuses on optimizing and enhancing processes that drive efficiency and reduce costs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Assessment
- Conduct evaluations of current business processes via focus groups and/or other methodology to determine inefficiencies and areas of improvement.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for process standardization, build and enhancements in both core and support processes.
Process Mapping & Continuous Improvement
- Create detailed process maps and workflows to visualize current and future processes.
- Facilitate continuous improvement efforts through Lean-Six Sigma principles like Kaizens, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs), etc.
- Craft and implement standardized continuous improvement tools (process mapping, root cause analysis, and standard workflows)
Performance & Value Realization
- Use data analysis and metrics to drive improvement efforts and decision making.
- Define and track process KPIs (time savings, cost-to-serve, OTD, etc.)
- Quantify and communicate business impact (cost savings, working capital, service improvements, etc.)
- Partner with Finance to validate and track benefits of projects and annual productivity efforts if necessary.
- Facilitate and provide training and support to associates in newly defined processes, ensuring understanding and adherence to updated procedures.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with executive leadership/stakeholders to identify and align on MSC strategic roadmap projects, functional projects, and associated processes, which are linked to MSC goals and objectives.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration in process execution and continuous improvement efforts on time and within projected budget.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development Team in creation of continuous improvement training content, delivery methods and tracking to develop associate skills and competencies.
- Respectfully challenge assumptions, ensuring the right outcomes are achieved.
Team Management
- Responsible for leading the Corporate-level Continuous Improvement Team.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
- Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field required.
- Six Sigma blackbelt is preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in Continuous Improvement.
- Five years senior management experience in a large complex organization including influencing senior management and critical stakeholders.
- Minimum of seven years leading others
- Demonstrated success initiating change and ability to influence at all levels required
- A recognized thought leader and innovator in the development of new tools, methodologies, and problem-solving approaches
- Thorough knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry preferred but not required

- A valid driver's license may be required.
- Position requires up to 50% of overnight travel required
- This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”)
Compensation starting at $154560 - $242880 depending on candidate location and experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
