BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
The Specialist I, Learning & Development supports the design, delivery, and coordination of content and courses that improve Associate performance and advance MSC's business priorities. The role applies foundational skills in instructional design, facilitation, project coordination, and learning technology to produce clear, practical content across modalities. This position facilitates virtual and in-person learning and maintains accurate, accessible materials to ensure a positive learner experience. AS/400 knowledge and experience is highly preferred since this position will be training AS/400 hands-on to new hires in various Sales and Customer Experience roles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Design and Content Development
- Use needs assessment results to clarify objectives, audience needs, and performance outcomes.
- Design and develop learning materials using MSC templates, brand standards, and adult learning and accessibility principles across a variety of modalities.
- Author digital learning assets using MSC's standard development tools (Articulate Rise/Storyline, Canva, Vyond, etc.).
- Update and refine content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness.
Learning Delivery and Facilitation
- Coordinate and facilitate virtual and in-person learning sessions.
- Support program rollouts, including pilots, enrollment, logistics, and facilitator scheduling.
- Partner with program leader to ensure timely execution, version control, and learner support.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Collect and analyze course evaluations, assessments, and usage data.
- Propose and make improvements based on insights.
- Maintain version control, documentation, and quality standards for assigned courses.
Stakeholder and SME Partnership
- Work with SMEs to translate complex information into clear, user-friendly content.
- Manage small to medium learning tasks or workstreams, escalating risks as needed.
- Communicate progress and gather input to maintain alignment with business needs.
Learning Technology, Operations & Innovation
- Build, upload, test, and publish content in the LMS with accurate tagging and functionality.
- Use approved AI tools to draft content or streamline development in line with MSC guidelines.
- Troubleshoot learner issues and coordinate with internal and external partners for resolution.
Professional and Industry Awareness
- Stay current on trends in learning science, instructional design, and learning technology.
- Contribute ideas that enhance learner experience, efficiency, and solution quality.
- Actively participate in informal knowledge sharing activities, including lunch and learns, team chats, and other activities.
Culture and Contribution
- Foster MSC's culture across interactions.
- Participate in special projects and complete additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communication, HR, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of one year of experience in instructional design, learning development, facilitation, education, or learning-related roles.
- Experience with course authoring and graphic tools (Articulate 360, Canva, Vyond, or equivalent) and basic LMS administration tasks.
- Strong facilitation, analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Instructional Design: Applies learning science, adult learning, and accessibility standards.
- Creates clear, engaging learning assets using modern tools.
- Leads sessions with clarity and engagement.
- Tracks tasks, schedules and documentation
- Communicates clearly with SMEs and learners.
- Uses authoring tools, LMS/LXP systems, and AI effectively.
- Applies AI responsibly and in accordance with MSC policy
- Works productively through changing priorities and iterative development.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Preferred: Facilitation, learning, HR, or change management certifications.
- Certified trainer for common third-party content preferred, such as DDI, Franklin Covey, and Challenger.

- A valid driver's license may be required.
- Position requires up to 40% of travel
Compensation starting at $58,000 - $69,812 depending on candidate location and experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
