BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
Program Manager, Utilities
is responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing sales with current and potential customers in the Utility Sector. The role will develop and implement a comprehensive internal and external strategic plan that ensures MSC ongoing profitable growth with Utilities.
This role directs efforts to maximize account penetration and long-term retention by overseeing the delivery of measurable value through cost savings initiatives, continuous improvement reviews (CIRs), and solution optimization. The Manager takes on the lead role with all relevant parties, both internal and external, associated with the Utilities program. In addition, this leader partners closely with the team on late-stage opportunities to support deal closure, oversee customer onboarding, and position MSC's solutions as a long-term competitive advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Takes the lead role with all relevant parties, both internal and external, associated with the Utilities program.
- Performs leadership role among the Vertical Markets Group, offering guidance, support and project leadership focused on the Utilities Program.
- Effectively develops, leads, and executes sales strategies that ensure ongoing profitable growth within the Utilities program.
- Identifies and prioritizes, with the assistance of various functional areas, opportunities for improvement of the Utilities program.
- Responsible for managing MSC's performance and develop action items to improve MSC's score on the Utilities contract vendor scorecard.
- Lead role on all RFI, RFP, & RFQ responses related to Utilities opportunities.
- Manages the development of solutions and processes to existing problems and looks towards the future to anticipate potential problems with the Utilities business.
- Develops and fosters a team environment for all project members.
- Interprets sales goals and initiatives so that priorities can be balanced, and timelines established in a cost-effective manner.
- Lead role on all quarterly business reviews with Utility leadership.
- Manages implementation and evaluates progress of the Utilities program.
- Leads management meetings and provides input for all Utilities' projects & opportunities under discussion.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of vision and fulfillment of MSC's mission.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in business or the equivalent experience is required.
- A minimum of 7+ years industrial/manufacturing/distributing sales experience with direct account responsibility is required.
- Direct strategic selling and contract negotiation experience with the Utilities or similar large, complex customer.
- Experience related to understanding and executing contract requirements for a large Government account.
- Demonstrable familiarity with the Utility structure, including contract requirements and processes.
- Familiarity with the procurement process within the Utility or similar large, complex customers
- Computer literacy and proficiency with all Microsoft office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, are required.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and planning skills are necessary
- Knowledge of project management techniques and processes are required.
- Business analysis experience and the ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities are required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent sales, negotiation, and team building skills and techniques are required.
- Understanding of financial performance and profitability is required.
- Must be a continual learner and display a high level of business acumen in working with large complex customers
- Analytical and Strategic thinking required.
- Direct experience working with and supporting Utilities
- Prior experience building or launching a new vertical or line of business
Other Requirements:
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 40-50% of the time is required.
This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).
Compensation starting at $94290 - $148170, depending on experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
