BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
Through strong interpersonal skills and with limited supervision, the Inventory Management Solution Consultant's (IMSC) primary role is enabling explosive revenue growth through solution opportunity management conducted primarily at customer locations. This includes on-site solution discovery, personalized recommendations, signings support, and installation oversight. Responsibilities may also involve supporting Customer Needs Analysis (B/CNA) agreements and collaborating on complex sales engagements with customer C-Suite personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Explosive sales growth through effective management of new solution opportunities is the ultimate responsibility of MSC's representative. This begins with comprehensive customer discovery and extends through installation oversight—primarily conducted at the customer's location.
Proficient with all MSC/Class C inventory management solutions including, but not limited to, vending, VMI, VMI Inclusion, Crib Software, CMI, etc.
Partners with key stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met through on-site data collection, solution discovery, and relationship building to enable explosive sales growth.
Conducts detailed discovery on customer requirements—including process improvement, pricing concerns, and cost savings—at the customer location, resulting in increased signings and expedited installation timelines.
Works continuously to shorten discovery and recommendation cycles (without sacrificing quality) to accelerate implementation timelines.
Ensures recommended solutions are tailored to specific customer needs identified on-site.
Provides financial assumptions supporting each recommended solution.
Collaborates with sales partners to secure signed agreements in a timely fashion.
Drives proficiency in the following customer-facing activities:
Installations – periodically supports solution installations at customer locations
Break-Fix – provides on-site service when issues arise
Post-Install Support – ensures ongoing functionality and customer satisfaction
Supply Chain Optimization – performed based on customer-specific needs
Cancellation Support – assists with transition and resolution at site
Utilizes key tools, technology, and PPE to promote a safe working environment while onsite.
Adheres to service level agreements to consistently deliver best-in-class results at the customer location.
Mentors peers on Solutions programs and related systems, leveraging hands-on experience gained through on-site customer support, installations, and solution delivery.
Maintains accurate and timely project documentation using Salesforce, aligned with on-site engagements.
Provides feedback to management for continuous process improvement, grounded in customer location experience.
Represents MSC Solutions at branch meetings and fosters partnerships with sales associates to enhance site-level execution.
Supports team goals and objectives with a customer-first focus.
Complies with MSC policies and procedures as documented in the associate handbook.
Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
What You Need:
Bachelor's degree in business or the equivalent experience is required
Minimum three years supporting value-added customer solutions / inventory management programs is required
Knowledge of MSC-like product lines/services & MSC related experience is required
Driver of execution, ability to work through complex situations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Excellent interpersonal skills required
Organizational & time management skills required
Problem solving, and situational adaptability skills required
Computer literacy & proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet & presentation software required.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Experience troubleshooting hardware and/or software preferred
Electro/Mechanical aptitude preferred
Database Software and SQL preferred
Other Requirements:
A valid driver's license may be required.
Position requires up to 75% of travel including overnight travel.
Must possess basic knowledge and use of hand and power tools
Able to perform physical activities such as lifting to approximately 50 lbs
Ability to work in various types of industrial environments
Must adhere to customer specific requirements such as wearing hardhats, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, etc.
This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”) - *if needed for specific orgs/roles*.

Compensation starting at $65,300 - $84,642 depending on candidate location and experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
