BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
MSC's internship program is a rewarding and challenging development programfor talented, high performingstudents.Interns are assigned to afunctional areafor a 10-week assignment. Each assignment will offer the opportunity for the students towork on defined projects,develop leadership skills and interact withassociatesacross all levels of the organization.
- Gain a deep understanding of the sales organization, its structure, and key performance drivers.
- Support day-to-day activities that enable the sales team to operate effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Sales, Finance, and Operations to gather insights and validate data.
- Contribute to ad-hoc analyses that inform strategic decisions and commercial initiatives.
- Help maintain and improve forecasting models, sales pipelines, and performance tracking tools.
- Analyze financial statements for innovative and improvement opportunities.
- Complete budget and forecast solicitation and analysis, owning certain areas of the company.
- Conducts business and financial analysis to identify strategic performance opportunities.
- Performs measurement of investment benefits relative to financial commitments.
- Collaborate with finance team associates to develop presentations including financial plans, company projects and initiatives.
- Provide business assistance to various groups within the Finance group where requested.
- Plan, execute, and complete special projects assigned.
- Develop skills needed for career in industrial distribution and/or information technology.
- Supports assigned manager with project work.
- Presents intern project results to business leaders.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
- Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma required.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Area of study in Finance or Analytics preferred.
- Excellent academic record.
SKILLS:
- Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing and Excel are required.
- Tableau is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills are required.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
- Positive, high-energy approach to assignments and a willingness to learn quickly required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid driver's license is required.
Compensation starting at $22/hr depending on candidate location and experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
