BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Indirect Procurement is pivotal in developing and implementing strategic sourcing and procurement strategies focused on quality, cost, and delivery. As the Strategic Sourcing and Category Manager for Indirect Spend, this role will manage procurement strategies for various indirect goods and services categories, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to identify cost-saving opportunities, and negotiate contracts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and executes sourcing strategies for highest spend, greatest complexity, and most critical/strategic indirect categories.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, providing guidance and support throughout the procurement process.
  • Leads RFx processes (Request for Proposal, Request for Quote, etc.) to solicit bids from suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and terms.
  • Negotiates contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal value while maintaining quality and service levels.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to drive procurement projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Works with suppliers to resolve contract management and compliance issues.
  • Performs Business Reviews with key suppliers, managing current performance, aligning corrective actions, and developing collaborative initiatives.
  • Manages the negotiated contract, including price fluctuations, quality, service and delivery metrics.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots potential business challenges and communicate issues and possible solutions to management.
  • Develops comprehensive benchmarks, baselines, and savings models, where appropriate.
  • Delivers on cost reduction commitments by identifying, developing, and executing strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Aids in gathering and analyzing data to identify process improvement opportunities and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Stays ahead of category trends by conducting thorough market analysis, integrating insights from both internal and external sources to refine the procurement strategy and set priorities.
  • Monitors and reviews the procurement strategy regularly, ensuring it adapts to evolving business needs and remains effective.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSCs vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, business, supply chain management, or a related field or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in strategic procurement and/or strategic sourcing, including experience with best-in-class procurement processes, strategic sourcing management, category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc. required.
  • Required experience to include:
  • Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain, or Sales
  • Knowledge of the Procurement / Supply Chain process
  • Experience with organizational or systems improvements
  • Data-driven with a proven ability to multitask and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills, organizational skills, project management, and excellent communication ability
  • Track record of leading cross-functional teams and cultivating collaborative partnerships at all levels and departments of an organization.
  • Ability to cultivate collaborative partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.

Other Requirements:

  • A valid drivers license may be required.
  • Position requires up to 10% of travel.
  • This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (ITAR) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)

Compensation starting at $82390 - $129470 depending on experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidates relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
