Brief Position Summary
The Team Lead In-Plant role is focused on managing the clients MRO spend and onsite personnel at an In-Plant Services location. Assigned sites typically average $3M in spend and 4 FTEs but can range from $2M/2 FTEs to $20M/20 FTEs. This role combines the competencies of distribution and professional procurement, as integrated supply represents the outsourcing of supply chain functions to a distributor. Key competencies include managing plant executive relationships, supplier management, cost savings processes, personnel management, customer service, and inventory management. The primary goals are to retain and grow established business, provide stability, and offer guidance to onsite staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and supply chain guidance to in-plant associates at the assigned site.

  • Manage assigned plant executive relationships.

  • Oversee key supply chain service level metrics (cost savings, inventory fill rates) to retain and grow integrated supply business.

  • Participate in sourcing products not available through MSC and manage second-tier supplier relationships.

  • Provide weekly communications to the Regional Onsite Manager and Account Manager; document weekly updates with the client site champion; and prepare monthly progress/performance reviews with the client site champion and plant executives.

  • Provide guidance, process management, and client reporting on cost savings procedures, attainment, and service level metrics.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for expanded spend management within the assigned site.

  • Review purchasing history for compliance with sourcing strategies.

  • Enter Corrective Action Reports (CARs) when necessary; review open CARs/issues weekly with the client site champion.

  • Conduct onsite inventory optimization reviews at least twice annually.

  • Foster the MSC culture within the department and throughout the company to ensure alignment with MSCs vision and purpose.

  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business or supply chain and at least 7 years of relevant experience (integrated supply, distribution, indirect materials management for a large manufacturer), OR at least 12 years of relevant experience in these areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff and clients in a high-tempo manufacturing environment.

  • CPSM certification preferred but not required.

  • Expertise in plant-level executive relationship management, third-party supplier management, indirect materials cost savings, personnel management, and multiple supply chain platforms (SAP, JDE, Maximo, EAM, Cribmaster, Tofino, etc.).

  • Strong customer service and inventory management skills.

  • Product and application knowledge of industrial MROP products (e.g., perishable tooling, general industrial, electrical, power transmission, pipe valves & fittings, fluid power, electronics, automation, safety).

  • General knowledge of sourcing and market participants across all MRO categories.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and ability to respond to off-shift emergency supply chain issues.

Compensation
Salary range: $56280 - $80400 per year, based on experience, education, and peer equity. The range reflects comparable roles in similar industries and geographic labor markets. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications. MSC reserves the right to adjust the range based on market conditions.
