BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Supply Chain Strategy, Analytics & Value Management, serves as the financial and strategic business partner within the Logistics & Planning organization. This role is responsible for evaluating and optimizing supply chain investments, inventory deployment decisions, network initiatives, and operational performance through a value-based decision framework. This leader combines supply chain expertise, financial acumen, advanced analytics, and strategic planning capabilities to ensure logistics and planning investments deliver measurable improvements in customer service, inventory productivity, network efficiency, and working capital performance. The role will partner closely with Planning, Transportation, Inventory Strategy, Category Management, Procurement, Operations, and Finance to ensure supply chain decisions are aligned with enterprise objectives and deliver sustainable value creation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supply Chain Strategy & Value Management

  • Lead development of business cases and investment strategies supporting supply chain transformation initiatives.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs among inventory investment, service levels, transportation costs, working capital, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop financial and operational models supporting strategic decision making.
  • Quantify and prioritize opportunities across inventory, transportation, network design, sourcing, and process improvement.
  • Establish value-capture frameworks to ensure initiatives deliver measurable business results.

Working Capital & Inventory Productivity Leadership

  • Serve as the Logistics & Planning lead for inventory productivity and working capital performance.
  • Partner with Inventory Strategy, Planning, Procurement, and Finance teams to establish inventory targets and performance goals.

Develop analytics supporting:

  • Inventory turns
  • Inventory productivity
  • Fill rate optimization
  • Inventory investment levels
  • Excess and obsolete inventory reduction
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve inventory deployment, assortment productivity, and network inventory placement.
  • Support enterprise working capital reduction initiatives focused on releasing cash while protecting service levels. Inventory optimization and working capital productivity are identified priorities across multiple strategic initiatives

Network Optimization & Strategic Analytics

Develop models supporting:

  • Network footprint decisions
  • Inventory placement strategies
  • Service level design
  • Transportation optimization
  • Facility investment decisions
  • Inventory segmentation strategies
  • Quantify cost, service, inventory, and working capital impacts associated with network alternatives.
  • Support executive reviews through scenario development and strategic recommendations.
  • Network optimization initiatives have focused on inventory positioning, stocking strategies, transportation efficiency, and working capital productivity.

SIOP / IBP & Business Integration

  • Partner with Planning leadership to integrate financial outcomes into SIOP and IBP processes.
  • Translate planning decisions into inventory, service, and working capital impacts.
  • Develop scenario modeling capabilities to support executive decision-making.
  • Lead supply chain performance reviews and strategic planning cycles.
  • Facilitate alignment across Planning, Finance, Category Management, Procurement, and Logistics.
  • Strong integration between operational planning and financial outcomes is considered a best practice for advanced planning organizations.

Blue Yonder & Planning Analytics Support

  • Partner with the Planning Systems and Inventory Optimization teams to maximize business value from Blue Yonder investments.
  • Measure realized benefits of planning system enhancements.
  • Evaluate inventory policy performance and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop KPI frameworks supporting inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to improve decision quality.
  • Blue Yonder upgrades and inventory optimization initiatives are identified as key strategic priorities.

Governance, KPI Management & Executive Reporting

  • Own development of Supply Chain value dashboards and performance scorecards.
  • Establish KPI governance across Logistics & Planning.
  • Lead executive reporting related to:
    • Working capital
    • Inventory productivity
    • Service performance
    • Transportation costs
    • Network optimization
    • Strategic initiative benefits
  • Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership.

Team Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing analytics and strategy team.
  • Establish analytical standards and decision-support processes.
  • Develop organizational capabilities around business case development, value management, and strategic analysis.
  • Mentor team members and create future leadership bench strength.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

What You Need:

  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Strategy, Finance, Operations, Consulting, Analytics, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting supply chain transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, logistics, transportation, procurement, planning, and network design.
  • Demonstrated experience developing executive-level analyses and recommendations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior leadership.

Bonus Points If You Have:

Preferred Experience

  • Industrial Distribution, MRO, Manufacturing, or Wholesale Distribution environments.
  • Inventory optimization and network design experience.
  • Blue Yonder planning systems exposure.
  • SIOP / IBP process leadership.
  • Supply chain consulting or operational strategy experience.
  • Experience supporting working capital improvement initiatives.

Compensation starting at $132200 - $207680 depending on candidate location and experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
