BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Specialist provides supplemental service support in the areas of conversions, ordering stock, vending solutions, putting orders away, 5S handling of service & equipment, and expediting. Provides appropriate on-site service and support to maximize revenue retention of current and new customers.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports in providing solutions to MSC customers and associates.
  • Understands company solutions, products, and services including continuous development to maintain technical product knowledge on current goods and services.
  • Supports the implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory programs at customer locations.
  • Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customers.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
  • Unpack orders, verify accuracy of shipment and put stock away at customer locations. Takes appropriate action on discrepancies or errors.
  • Ensure appropriate customer stock levels, generate new orders for merchandise, and obtain customer approval to place orders when required.
  • Provides communication and feedback to the sales representative, peers, and managers as appropriate to ensure full customer satisfaction.
  • Performs general (5S) housekeeping for on-site binning, and vending equipment. This includes setup, repairs, maintenance, stocking, and troubleshooting technical problems with vending equipment.
  • Utilize company technology to complete daily tasks, order generation, tracking, and routing.
  • Utilizes Route Scheduling System to develop a routing plan, time on site, and appropriate call frequency as well as document daily activity at each visit.
  • Reports all schedule and work order changes in a timely manner.
  • Develops, maintains and strengthens customer relationships
  • Assists or conducts prospect/customer surveys and conversions in the setup of new customer locations and in modernizing existing customer locations.
  • Seeks out opportunities to assist in increasing revenue growth in existing customers locations through Spot Buy program. Utilizes technical knowledge and sales usage reporting to identify new products and solutions as part of the compensation program.
  • Secures and submits customer orders for processing utilizing wireless ordering technology.
  • Checks accuracy of incoming orders; unpacks and puts away stock where appropriate. Manage returns as necessary. Recycles packaging waste per customer site guidelines.
  • Submits in timely manner, in the format requested, all written reports as required by management.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A High School Diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Supply chain and process improvement experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience, including one year of related industry experience is preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet software is required.
  • Ability to acclimate to order entry system on both PC and handheld scanning device and operated portable labelling device.
  • High degree of integrity and ability to develop customer relationships required.
  • Must exhibit basic math skills and ability to organize and manage time appropriately
  • Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, minimum liability insurance as required by state of vehicle registration.
  • Must be able to work from home office and own a personal computer with internet access that can be used for work.
  • Must exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent listening skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Position requires over 80% consistent daily travel within district. Occasional overnight travel is also required.
  • Job requires visitation of customer sites, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility.
  • Fluency in English language is required.
  • Ability to move products and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. based on customer and service needs.

Compensation starting at $45,000 depending on experience. Plus a monthly bonus. Plus Car Program

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity.  The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
